An itinerary to enjoy one of the most beautiful sections of the Plazaola Greenway (Navarra), at Easter: old railway stations, tunnels, forests and pastures, farmhouses, panoramic views of the Sierra de Aralar, waterfalls…
Beginning of route: Astotrek (Berastegi)
End of route: Latasa Station. The donkeys will be picked up there. You can also do the tour the other way around or with stages to your liking.
The Plazaola Greenway is one of the most beautiful nature trails in the area.
Going through it in the company of the donkeys will connect you with nature and reinforce the values associated with respect for animals and the environment.

The trip will begin preparing the donkeys and learning to handle them with the help of our guides. The first stop will be made at the old Plazaola station from where we will walk 7.5 km. to Leitza, a beautiful rural town with a lot of charm and surrounded by nature. Did you know that Leitza has been the scene of filming for films such as 8 Basque surnames, The Good News or The Hermitage?

The second day will begin leaving behind the imposing church of Leitza, to reconnect with the Vía Verde and head towards Lekunberri. At noon we will have lunch in the company of the donkeys to rest and continue with the route until we reach the Huitzi tunnel. The tunnel is characterized by its length of 2.7 km, being considered for many years the longest on the peninsula. It is commonly known as the tunnel of kisses, could you tell why?
We will reach the finish line of this section, Lekunberri. A town known for being the place chosen to spend the summer by illustrious people such as Ernest Hemingway, Fabiola from Belgium or Orson Welles.

On the last day of the route, we will leave for Latasa. The tour runs largely along the Larraun River with incredible places like the Ixkier Waterfall, where we will stop for lunch.
A tour with a view of the industrial past of the area, the old San Migueltxo Paper Mill, and Pastaola, a medieval ironworks.
At noon you will arrive at Latasa and then return by taxi to Astotrek.

We recommend bringing: Hiking clothing and shoes, warm clothing and raincoat, flashlight, water bottle, small backpack for the route, other luggage to load in the saddlebags - max 8kg/pers, snacks for the route
