Visit to the huts of shepherds with donkeys

Summary of the itinerary: It is the mountain grazing and the introduction of the culture of grazing. We cross the town of Berastegi through the mountains, taking a few breaks to listen to the explanations and ending up at a mountain hut. There we will learn how a hut works and we will do a cheese tasting. Throughout the whole way we will have the help of donkeys. The donkeys are led by the rope, creating contact with them, and in the case of children, they can ride for a while.

We start from the Berastegi square and along the way we will make 6 stops. They will be moments of explanation to understand what surrounds us. We have called them “pills” because they are small explanations, less than 5 minutes. In addition to enjoying the rest, it will be an opportunity to learn about the culture of grazing.

Tasting: Two types of shepherd’s cheese “Gazpio” will be tasted, natural and smoked. There will be four triangles per person per class (with the help of some picks) and cider and water and wine will be offered with the traditional “bota” (how to do it will be taught)

Observations: It is advisable to wear comfortable mountain clothing. It is a tour that combines mountains, nature, donkeys and culture of grazing. It may be too much to do with very young children. For them, we would recommend a tour with donkeys through the meadows of the cheese factory.
