Plazaola Green Road

The Vía Verde del Plazaola is a very attractive walk, built on the old structure of the narrow gauge railway that linked the 85 kilometers that separated Pamplona and San Sebastián between 1914 and 1953. In Gipuzkoa, near the border with Navarra, the mines were of Plazaola or Bizkotx, the namesake of the train that transported  minerals to Andoain and later was to transport passengers between the two capitals.

At present, you can travel 66.5 km through forests and pastures, 41.9 km in Navarra and 24.6 km in Gipuzkoa, in the protected Leitzaran Valley, where the Leitzaran stream and the humid forest have hidden the remains of mines, forges or mills for centuries.

Astotrek is located near on the border of Navarra and Gipuzkoa. From here we propose two options to enjoy this wonderful Plazaola Greenway.
